Training

Russell Mineral Equipment (RME) offers training at our purpose built Research and Development Facility in Toowoomba, Australia or at your mine site.  RME's training may also be completed at our Regional Service Centres located in Salt Lake City in America, Santiago and Antofagasta in Chile and Johannesburg in South Africa.  RME's Specialist Trainers are Certificate IV qualified trainers and assessors. Both RME's accredited and customised training courses are developed to Australian Quality Framework (AQF) standards. The AQF is the framework for regulated qualifications in the Australian education and training system and are internationally recognised.

Customised Courses

Just as RME's Mill Relining System is tailored for the needs of each individual mine site, RME's training can also be customised to match specific equipment at any site. These courses are provided at the highest training and mining industry standards, and are developed according to AQF. 

Course Descriptions

Russell Mineral Equipment designs and manufactures the world’s highest quality Mill Relining equipment and offers accredited training with the same excellence and quality in the following:

  • 10186NAT Course in Operate a Mill Reline Machine.
  • 10187NAT Course in Operate a Recoilless THUNDERBOLT Hammer.

RME's customised training can draw on modules developed to enable participants to understand various elements of operation, safety, and rudimentary maintenance of:

  • The range of THUNDERBOLT Hammers
  • THUNDERBOLT Suspension and Powerpacks
  • O-ZONE Liner Lifting Tools and T-MAGs
  • RUSSELL and MILLMAST Mill Liner Handlers
  • RUSSELL Mill Relining Machine (including RUSSELL TWIN Mill Relining Machines)
  • RUSSELL Feed Chute Technologies, and
  • Special engineered solutions that RME has developed for customers.

RME can develop and run training courses from these modules exclusively for your mine site.  Our training is focused on what we know best; our Mill Relining System.  However, if you have a particular need for training on a non-RME Mill Relining System topic, such as forklift operation or confined spaces, please let us know, and we will work with you to determine whether this is suitable to package in with the RME Mill Relining System training.

Objective

RME's objective is to provide our customers with Vocational Education and Training (VET) accredited courses aligned with AQF standards in the operation of the RME Mill Relining System.

  • Mill operations personnel
  • Potential purchasers of equipment

Benefits and Expected Outcomes

Course participants gain thorough knowledge regarding the operation of the RME Mill Relining System directly from the OEM. Reliners are empowered with insights from our Training Specialists, enabling them to operate RME's world-renowned technologies to their full performance potential and develop sound understanding of all of our world-class safety functions and features.

Available exclusively from RME, these courses in Operating a Mill Relining Machine and Operate the THUNDERBOLT Recoilless Hammer, have the international recognition provided by the Australian education system.

On successful completion of the training, students will receive a 'Statement of Attainment' issued by the TAFE Queensland, RTO Number 0275, for the accredited training courses.

The training program can cover aspects such as:

  • Safety
  • Familiarisation
  • Pre-use checks
  • Set up procedures
  • Operation
  • Post-use checks
  • Basic fault finding (operator proficiency level)
  • Assessment (theoretical and practical)

Delivery Methods

At Russell Mineral Equipment we strive to deliver a quality product that is tailored to our customers needs. Our training courses consists of both theoretical and practical training with assessment at the end of each session. Theory training will be delivered in the classroom with the hands-on, practical training delivered on the Russell Mill Relining Machine or range of equipment.

(Please note: competency log books will be required to be completed as an element of the course before the AQTF qualification can be issued.)

Location

Russell Mineral Equipment has experienced, qualified trainers who will travel to your site to deliver training or alternately you can send your personnel to RME's purpose designed and built training centre in Toowoomba, Australia.

For on site training, the resources required at site include:

  • Independent tie down point for the Mill Relining Machine
  • Training room for theory training
  • Translator if necessary
