IT Desktop Support Engineer

There is now an exciting opportunity for an IT Desktop Support Engineer to join the Information Systems team on a permanent full time basis.

Major duties

The IT Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for the following:

  • Supporting RME staff with IT technical support at the desktop level
  • Provisioning and decommissioning of new end user computers and maintain the RME IT Asset Management system
  • Building new laptops and desktops
  • Administration of IT assets
  • Provisioning of phones and support of printers

Skills, qualifications and experience   


  1. At least 5 years’ appropriate experience in an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) role
  2. Sound understanding of Windows Desktop and Server operating systems
  3. Good knowledge of desktop, laptop and networking technologies
  4. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key ICT and Business Information Systems (BIS) providers
  5. Ability to provide advice on appropriate IT solutions, best-practice initiatives and policies


  1. At least 5 years’ appropriate experience in an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) role
  2. Experience with the support of engineering / manufacturing systems
  3. Ability to analyse complex ICT matters and advise management accordingly
  4. Degree-qualified in Information Technology or other relevant discipline
