Russell Mineral Equipment’s HSE Manager is Alfonso Munoz, a role that is central to RME’s people and culture capability to affirm and communicate that safety is not just a priority – but a core value of the company. Indeed, making mill reline environments safer is RME’s very reason for being.
Alfonso leads a team of HSE supervisors, officers and advisors who, on a daily basis, provide best-practice leadership, learnings, systems and support to ensure RME employees, contractors and Customers can go to work without risk of harm and return to their family and friends safely. This means executing HSE plans and directives, maintaining management systems and facilities, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, and leading the effort to create a zero harm workplace for all people and the environment.
Alfonso has a long list of technical and safety credentials to his name. These range from the nationally-recognised Diploma of Work Health and Safety, Cert IV’s in WHS and Training and Assessment, through to specialised first aid, fire safety, rehabilitation, Dupont and Take-5 Safety Programs, incident investigation, decision making, change and facilitation.
Prior to joining RME in 2017, Alfonso delivered WHS advisory services to the business, giving him a glimpse of the authentic community that is RME. His first inside role was that of HSE Supervisor, then Operations Manager, Mill Relining, before succeeding to HSE Manager in 2019. Prior to RME, Alfonso’s career showcases a range of safety, training and operational roles across the asset-intensive-sector. Alfonso spent 8 years at Orica Mining Services in coordinator and team lead roles in assembly and extrusion plants – experience which developed his understanding of the risks and hazards encountered by manufacturers and mine sites, and expertise that he brings to his work at RME.
