Business Development Manager Africa
Nico Venter is Russell Mineral Equipment’s Business Development Manager for the vast and varied continent that is Africa – a region where the mineral industry is an important source of export earnings for many of its nations and key to their economic expansion and sustainable development goals.
Nico joined RME in 2013 and assumed responsibility for new business development. This means on a daily basis he is building awareness, adoption and preference for the world-leading RME Mill Relining System with owners, operators and suppliers across Africa. In an industry where the productivity, and profitability, of a plant is closely coupled with the high-availability of comminution processes, Nico is able to educate existing and potential Customers how RME’s technology is unique in its ability to drive value, reduce mill reline times, and most importantly, improve safety.
Beyond this, and as part of his Customer-facing role, Nico is also focused on offering aftermarket and spares support, mill reline optimisation programs, and maintenance and training services, with the goal of driving client performance and returns on capital equipment assets even higher. Additionally, Nico enjoys being involved with the training and development of local staff and ensuring sales team alignment with organisational strategy and growth objectives for the Africa region.
Before joining RME, Nico had a 6+ year tenure as Business Development Manager for Lake International Technologies in Johannesburg, a South African diversified manufacturer and supplier of specialty ingredients, chemicals and commodities. Prior to this he was Marketing Manager for Botswana Ash, South Africa’s largest producer of natural sodium products. Nico has been awarded a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) with honours and marketing and commerce majors from the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein.
