We are currently seeking ‘expressions of interest’ (EOI) from candidates with varying levels of qualifications and experience in engineering and drafting. As an integral part of RME’s engineering cohort, you will have the opportunity to develop a range of fundamental drafting and/or engineering skills, supported by a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team of industry-leading engineers.

Boilermaker
RME regularly has exciting opportunities for Boilermakers. We are currently seeking expressions of interest for permanent, full time roles in our Fabrication team.
RME Boilermakers are responsible for the efficient fabrication and welding of RME-manufactured equipment to a high standard of workmanship. Our boilermakers must have a genuine interest in fabricating high quality, high-performance, specialised machines and a strong commitment to safety.
Strong interpersonal skills, such as the ability to take direction, be proactive in seeking feedback and the ability to work respectfully in a team environment, are all critical to success in this role.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Experience in flat plate fabrication, with the ability and desire to produce the highest-quality fabrications to AS1554 parts 1 and 4
- Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to approach situations with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude
Desirable
- Trade-qualified in Metal Fabrication or Boilermaker
- Post-trade certified in AS1796 certificates 7, 8G and 9
- Experience with Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing Toolkits
- Basic IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office software

MECHANICAL DRAFTSPERSON
This role is responsible for:
- Preliminary mechanical design and other small design tasks using SolidWorks
- Production of detailed drawings required to progress parts or assemblies from 3D models to completed drawings
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated experience in 3D modelling and detailed drafting of fabrication drawings within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated commitment to quality engineering
- Basic knowledge of material sciences
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic principles and design
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
- Ability to work under minimal supervision

UNDERGRADUATE MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Under supervision, this role is responsible for:
- The creation of mechanical (fabrication and assembly) drawings
- Preliminary layout and design of various aspects of RME equipment
- Taking an active role in your career development through university education and on-the-job experience
Undergraduate Mechanical Engineers will be supported with a flexible work structure, working four days per week and having one day per week as a dedicated study day. Applicants must be enrolled or enrolling in a Mechanical Engineering degree.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Year 12 Certificate
- Currently undertaking a four-year professional engineering degree (BENG, BENH or equivalent) majoring in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
- A strong desire to gain experience in modelling and drafting within a 3D software environment
- Demonstrated graphics and / or technical drawing competency
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment

GRADUATE MECHANICAL ENGINEERS
This role is responsible for:
- Assisting with the preparation of detailed designs, layouts and drawings of high quality mining equipment
- Being involved in all facets of engineering required to progress the engineering project from concept to completion of drawings (under supervision)
- Completing small design tasks within a defined period
- Applying engineering principles, techniques and methods
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
- Basic knowledge of material sciences
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic principles and design
- Ability to think laterally
- A demonstrably strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work in a team based environment
